Remote Services

Every QWFIX application that uses FIXStandaloneApplication is remotely manageable. All user needs to do is to enable the remote management service in the QWFIX Enterprise manager. It is completely transparently to application developers. Programmers don't have to anything. They don't even have to know GUI programming.

QWFIX provides a GUI based management tool QWFIX RTAnalyzer.

The remote services is by default turned off. User needs to manually turn it on. The service requires an available TCP port on the host machine to accept incoming connections. Consult your system administrator to find out which port you can use.

It is recommended that user always turn on the remote services and add all services available. To add a service, first highlight a service in the list, then click "Add Service" button as shown in the screen shot below.

Security

QWFIX repository server supports role based security. As long as the user ID has read access to the FIX engine settings in the repository, the user will be able to retrieve the automatically generated password of the remote services of that engine.

Note: Role based security is not implemented in the current version of QWFIX system (it is in core system but not in GUI applications). It will be added shortly after the initial release.

Windows Firewall: The remote service may be blocked by Windows Firewall. Most organizations turn off Windows Firewall for internal systems. If your Windows Firewall is turned on, contact your system administrator to find out how to add the rule to open the required TCP port.
